Stephen Lang Announced as Special Guest

August 30, 2022

EL PASO – The El Paso Film Festival has announced its 2022 programming line-up. The festival is scheduled to start Thursday night October 13, 2022 though Sunday October 16, 2022 at the Philanthropy Theater and The El Paso Museum of Art in downtown El Paso.

El Paso Filmmaker Lucky McKee will be presenting his newest film, Old Man, which stars Stephen Lang and Marc Senter Thursday October 13 @ 7:30pm as the opening night film of the 2022 film festival. The film unfolds as a lost hiker stumbles upon an erratic old man living in the woods and a chance encounter triggers an unimaginable nightmare.

“I am thrilled to be presenting Old Man at the El Paso Film Festival,” said McKee. “Development, prep and post were all done in El Paso, so it’s going to be a thrill to share it with the community and honor the local artists that helped make it all happen. The fact that we’ll have our brilliant lead actors in attendance is icing on the cake!”

Lucky McKee’s film, Old Man, was completed in El Paso, Texas at Rio Bravo Outpost, a collaborative filmmaking hub built by local film producer Charles Horak. Rio Bravo Outpost provided the entire post-production services of editing, visual effects, sound design and mixing, color and titles. Created four years ago, Rio Bravo Outpost continues to be El Paso’s primary source for complete post-production services for short and feature films, with recent titles selected to screen at Sundance, SXSW, Toronto, Cleveland, and many other prestigious festivals.

“Most people think that filmmaking ends when the cameras stop rolling, when in fact so much of a filmmaker’s creative intent is found and polished in the post-production process,” said Horak. “We’ve created a collaborative and supportive environment where filmmakers can immerse themselves with their films and bring their creations to full potential.”

Carlos Corral, the founder and artistic director of the El Paso Film Festival, is excited to be returning once again to El Paso’s beautiful downtown and being given the opportunity to continue the annual tradition of bringing local, regional, and national filmmakers together.

“We’re all very excited opening this year’s festival with Lucky’s latest film,” said Corral. “Being able to have a local filmmaker complete their film in El Paso and then screen it with us with Stephen Lang in attendance is the kind of example that elevates our bi-national community for film production.”

Join us for the fifth annual El Paso Film Festival at the Philanthropy Theater and The El Paso Museum of Art  October 13 - 16, 2022 as audiences gain a front row seat and behind the “screen” knowledge of a selection of short and feature films by local, regional, and national filmmakers.
