Patricia Vonne still remembers the determination her maverick brother Robert Rodriguez had even as a child.
"When he was 12, he was taking pictures of me to learn how to work the camera. And I asked him what he wanted to be. And he said, 'I'm going to be a director.' He didn't say, 'I want to be a director.' And he didn't even look up at me, just kept snapping pictures," she recalled in a phone interview from Austin. "I always admired his drive and ambition."
Vonne said she is excited to come to El Paso because it is her mother's hometown.
"We are grateful to the El Paso Film Festival for bringing us to our mother's hometown to share our films together. We hope people have a great time, to be inspired, to never lose their love for the arts, for music, for live entertainment, because without an audience the arts will wither away," she said.
