Above the Desert with No Name follows twelve-year-old Silvia, who flees domestic violence in her country with her brother and mother. After illegally crossing the border, they seek refuge at a cousin's apartment. Silvia finds solace on the balcony, where she secretly observes a neighbor performing spiritual yoga. Mimicking these movements, Silvia experiences an awakening that connects her to the magic realism of the natural world. The story explores trauma, yoga, and mysticism, showing how young girls can find self-realization and break familial patterns for a hopeful future.
