Billy Townes

Filmmaker

Born in New York City, Townes’ earliest experiences with the music came from his piano teacher mother when he was still a toddler in Okinawa, Japan, where his father was stationed in the army.

The family settled in El Paso, Texas in 1971, and soon after that, Townes began formal classical music training.

Townes' initial exposure to jazz as a teenager transformed his life instantly. Through the 2000s, Townes shifted his artistry to another level by producing the media that he so loved since childhood...films.

Since 2002 he has directed/produced/scored 5 independent feature films and 2 short films that have earned accolades for their technical, sonic, and visual features.
